Zimbabwe Today.....
Well, His Majesty Mugabe got his crown. BBC is reporting that he has arrived in Egypt for the African Union Summitt. The good news is that SADC (The South African Development Community) observer mission has condemened the election as not free and fair. Of course, King Mugabe will remind the other kings (Libya, Gabon, Egypt, etc.) that they're no Democrats either. But, the difference is that he fought for liberation. Others did not . There lies the difference. Supposedly he was subdued today during his so-called inauguration. Maybe, reality has set in. I wonder!!!!
John Simpson of the BBC went out to see the MDC leader. I was laughing as to how they gave the Zimbabwe State Security people the slip before going out to See Morgan. I thought the link here will say it all: Really Long Link It is clear that the question is not if His Majesty Mugabe will leave, but when. The MDC leader looked increasingly confident. Hopefully, he won't forget why he is in this--for the people.
As for the ordinary people of Zimbabwe, they continue to suffer with nothing to buy. A loaf of bread costs 10 Billion Zimbabwean Dollars. The people are suffering mightly. When will this all end? Will this be the continuation of African renewal? The answer is clearly no. But, it appears that Southern Africa is the bright spot, despite its' challenges. Let's wait and see.
