What a Disappointment....

Someone blinked....
I sense a profound sense of disappointment after Secretary Clinton climbed down from her forceful rebuke of the Israeli Prime Minister. The Secretary of State basically went back on what she said on Friday about the conduct of the Israeli Government during the visit of the Vice President.
When I wrote on this, I was hopeful that somehow the work that was done to get indirect talks started would lead to some sort of a breakthrough. Well, someone blinked. Who blinked was the Obama Adminstration. No person that the Vice President of the United States was humiliated and the Israeli Government will end up getting away with it. The Government of Israel is doing whatever it pretty much wants and the United States has to simply take and accept what the Israeli Government says. Although there is vehement opposition to this within Israel, it appears that the Obama Adminstration will again sacrifice everything for the sake of appeasing Israel and the Israeli cheering crowd in the United States.
As this was going on, the day of rage went on in Jersuleaum. The Palestinians threw rocks and protested as the Israelis continued their security clampdown. The images are just tragic. How can the United States be trusted as it continues allowing Israel to have a free reign? Secretary Clinton's climbdown tells me that Israel has been given a green light to do as it pleases. When will there be enough courage to tell the Israeli Government that they can't just define their own terms?
