Tue Republican Convention: Day 1 (LINK)

: The Impact of Gustav
The Republicans just adjorned the first day of their convention. CIndy McCain spoke, while John McCain was busy helping to pack supplies for flood victims. That's great. I commend him for it. First Lady Laura Bush also spoke. They called for the people to step up to help the people in the stricken areas of Gustav's destructive path. It appears that the levees by in large are holding. Mother nature seemed to be kind this time!!!

John McCain and his wife Cindy implored us to be Americans first and then worry about the politics. Senator McCain's website reflects his genuine desire to be above the fray now. The Republican National Convention is also doing a fundraiser apparently along with blood banks to donate blood and other supplies. But, the problem is that the media already has annoited him the President. That's the worrisome part. The Nation Magazine's contributor to Al Jazeera (not exactly a fan of the Republicans) said that it will help John McCain.

In my view, there is no question that John McCain has gained considerably this past few days. The Democrats had their moment in the sun last week. It is now the Republicans turn. Gustav did give them an opening. I am just surprised that the Obama campaign did not move as quickly as the McCain campaign on this one. Let's see what Day 2 brings about!!!
