The Sunday Talk Shows in the U.S.....
Sunday saw another round of talk shows with surrogates for the major Presidential Campaigns making the rounds (NBC with Meet the Press; CBS with Face The Nation and others). The one that impressed me the most was Meet the Press. Surrogates for Senators Obama and McCain went at it about the economy, Iraq, and other challenges the country faces. One thing that is of concern to me is both candidates' economic plans. Senator McCain believes that he can balance the budget in 2013 while maintaining the military committments and initiating tax cuts for the wealthy. Senator Obama also has some unrealistic ideas about how to go about jump starting the economy. I wonder what is going to in fact happen. The choices are stark and not easy. It will require bold and courageous leadership at all levels. The test will come and not a moment too soon.
