Is it worth it?
As I saw this picture in the reporting done by France's State Television, it brought tears to my eyes. I also was quite concerned when I read a dispatch noting that it took 4 hours for support to arrive and they may have been the victim of friendly fire. If this is in fact the case, it reminds me of the Pat Tillman public relations disaster a few years back. I continue to wonder whether the sacrifice that these 10 young men made is not in vain. I know this: The so-called Afghan President, Karzai, is the problem. The warning signs have been there. For someone who can't even control his own family, how can he be expected to control a government.
10 families will have to live with this loss for the rest of their lives. Afghans will continue to suffer. The Taliban will continue their so-called "Jihad" in the mistaken belief that they are fighting for Islam. To what end?
