The Poll-Driven Election....
:
Polls...Should we care?
The so-called mainstream media (or the five sisters) are continuing the drumbeat on polls. I am sick and tired of polls. They are telling me that the election has been pretty much decided. They are telling me that McCain is in. They are telling me that Obama needs to pretty much stop wasting his time. Well, if that' the case when should I bother? That's why I won't listen to polls and simply will periodcally visit the candidates' websites to assess their positions and updates. The people seem to be taken for granted. Gallup, Pew, Rasumseen, Wall Street Journal, Zogby and the rest of the polling establishment I suppose do have a role to play. But, I wonder if they truly represent the mood of the people. One thing is for sure: what has been going on over the past seven years is unacceptable. What has been the norm must give way to a different and more robust way of tending to the common man's plight. Will that happen? I am not sure at this stage.
