The Equal Opportunity Press.....
:
Don't they have anything better to do?
The press never seems to amaze me. I read reports about Mrs. McCain's long-lost half sister who lives a supposed simple life in Phoenix. Mrs. McCain's bio states that she was an only child and the sole heir to her father's fortune. Now, there was a report about Barack Obama's long lost brother in Kenya. I saw the story buried in Russia Today, the english language version of the Russian State Broadcaster. The story noted how Obama's half brother lived in povertry in Kenya.
As I read both stories, my only reaction was: so what?????????? Their private family affairs is their affair. It is such stories that truly deflect the focus on the real issues. Obama's success has been in spite of his father. It has been due to his mother and his grandparents. He went to trace his roots and visit his family. He is to celebrated for doing that. As for Mrs. McCain, if she decides to help her half sister is a matter for her alone. It is not anyone business. I just hope that it just goes away so that the people of the United States and the world get to truly know the candidates beyond the 30-second soundbites and the surrogate attack machines.
