The Dawn of Thanksgiving in America: A Personal Retrospective
:
A Lot to be Thankful For
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in America. Despite all the challenges America faces, there is stilla lot to be thankful for. I have written about these very challenges in here and OV's sister sites because of the simple belief that the best days of our world are yet to come.
With all that is going on, it seems as if such optimism is far fetched. When I read about the long-term jobless and see the plight of those who seem to have lost all hope, I get discouraged. Yet, it is crucial to realize that faith, hope and optiimism are vital if our world is to emerge from the challenges it faces stronger than ever.
As I look forward to celebrating this blessed day, I am reminded of John F. Kennedy's admoonition that, ÂAs we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. I will do everything everything I can through my writings and my actions to live by them as long as I have the privilege to be on this blessed Earth that we all call home.
