Outsider Views - by Mike Pouraryan

We are living in an ever-changing world which continues to be as fascinating as ever. This is the forum for me to report, to comment and to reflect. Thank you for visiting my forum and your support of this lifelong project.

The Butcher of Bosnia is No More!!!

The Butcher of Bosnia, Radovan Karadzic, was arrested by Serbia. The long arm of International Justice continues its' march for holding suspects accountable. This man's arrest will not bring back the thousands of muslims who perished during the Balkan Wars. But, at least accountability will be the centerpiece of what can be possible if the world is united as one. In the world, though, for two steps forward, there is one step back. I view the Untied States' rejection of the International Criminal Court as one reason Sudan will ultimately get away with the atrocities at Darfur. Al Bashir's indicement by the International Criminal Court has been rejected by the AU and the Arab League. Sudan calls it political and rejects the assertion. My question, then, to the Sudanese Authorities is simply this: Who should be held responsible? Why did the atrocities in Darfur occur? Why is the Arab League and the African Union siding with this man? A country and a government that depends on one man does not deserve to remain a country. These are fundemental questions that the Africans and the Arabs have to answer. But, Amir Musa simply said that the stability of Sudan is at stake. Sudan has a number of challenges it has to overcome. I agree with Amir Musa on that. But to whitewash Darfur in the name of Stability is simply criminal.

Hopefully they don't charge him with too much and strong it out over a decade...always a possibility.

But with a bit of luck they'll get Bush, Howard and Blair to the Hague soon too!
