Sarkozy the Control Freak.....
I have been following Nicholas Sarkozy's effort to "reform" French Television. Apparently, he wants to appoint the head of the French Public Broadcasting with advise and consent of the French Senate. I am a bit disturbed at this turn of events. Sarkozy seems to be borrowing a page from George W. Bush's playbook in his attempt to keep tabs on the media. Of course, just like in the United States, France has three major tycoons who control the biggest media outlets. But, also just like the United States with the alternative media, the left in France seems to insure that Sarkozy is kept in check. This is one development I would be watching closely.
