Sarah Palin Speaks
:
The Reformer..Give me a Break!!!
As I write, Sarah Palin continues to speak. She began with her background, her rise to power and her family. That is to be commended. In a country with a 50% divorce rate, her devotion to family is commendable. Her committment to public service should also be lauded when she started running for the PTA and all the rest. But, after she began being an "attack dog" I turned the rest of the speech off.
One of the things she claimed was that she was not a member of the permanent political establishment. I don't really know what that means. For the steward of a state with such rich natural resources, she seems to be reckless. She claims she stood up to big oil and apparently collected $ 13,000 from the oil industry. There is also a quote attributed to her noting that she actually agreed with Barack Obama about a windfall profit tax on Oil companies. She did the same thing in Alaska. So, if this is right for Alaska, then why is it wrong for America? There is also the affiliation that Sarah Palin has with the 527 that Ted Stevens, the indicated Senior Senator from Alaska, ran. She was listed, according to the Washington Post Story, as its' President. So, with all this talk of being a reformer and being an outsider, this all sounds like being an insider to me!!!
What truly turned me off is when Sarah Palin went after Barack Obama's patriotism by accusing Barack Obama of wanting to "forefeit Iraq". This is not the way to win the independents and the so-called Hillary Democrats. They have to learn to unite, not divide, instill hope and not fear. They did not do that. Senator McCain's service and Governor Palin's Committment to her state does not give them the right to win. Someone just called it a "Karl Rove" speech.
Today's daily Gallup poll still shows a 6% lead for Senator Obama. That will probably evaporate because of the Republican Attack dogs being unleashed. Lying is too strong a word...but the Republicans came pretty darn close!!!!
One thing is for sure: The real campaign begins September 5.
