Pakistan is on the Brink....

: I was right...Musharaf was just an excuse....
Throughout the last few days, the powerbrokers in Pakistan have been going back and forth trying to figure out who should replace Pervez Musharaf. Musharaf has been gone for a few days now. The Laurel and Hardy of Pakistani Politics, Sharif & Zardari, are still at it. Sharif has threatened to pull his party out of the coalition today if there is no agreement. While the politicians are playing their cat and mouse game, the Taliban are busy wrecking havoc on the country. Yesterday, they blew up a Pakistani Arms Factory killing many. According to GEO TV, the independent Pakistani channel, the shelling in the SWAT valley continues.

Despite whatever may have been said about Musharaf (and there were plenty of mistakes), at least the man tried. That is more than can be said about Sharif and Zardari. The coalition will probably fall apart anyway. I especially question Sharif's newfound enthusiasm for Democracy and his zealous advocacy for an independent judiciary when in fact his track record is one of being essentially an autocrat. I also find his name being touted as President also laughable. An Al Jazeera report noted that Zardari's sister was one of the persons being considered. This proves to me that their so-called democracy is simply feudalism operating under the charade of Democracy. The major problems are spiraling out of control. There is no government. When will they wake up and realize the mess they have created?
