OV Week-End (3/14/2010): Republican Irresponsbility

: What now?
I have been following the Republican talking points throughout the week. The basic contention by the Republicans was outlined by Senator Brown in the Republican Weekly Address on Saturday:

I have written about the Scott Brown election and the potential danger signs that the White House needs to be aware of going into the MId-terms. But, Scott Brown needs to also remember that he was elected by the People of Massachuttes in part because he understood what Massachuttes Politics demanded. Why are the Republicans so afraid of reform? Don't they realize what is truly going on in "Main Street"?

I have noted that the Republicans are interested in one thing and one thing only: Power. They have said it. They seem to subscribe to the notion that they are able to defeat the President because they claim that the Healthcare Debate is the advent of Socialism and the loss of America's way of life. The America that I know is an America that will insure that everyone is taken care of and a reasonable sense of security is at hand so that people can build a life that they are proud of. I have asked this question and will ask it again: Is 100 years enough?

The irresponsibility of the Republicans and their arrogance in adopting an know-it-all view of the world is dangerous. A traditional loyal opposition must act responsbily and provide solutions. Solutions should not be to destroy, but to build and improve. The Republicans saw to it that the Clinton Agenda came to a halt before the so-called Gingrich Revolution. Bill Clinton had the smarts to overcome it and coopt many of the ideas. The Republicans did pull off an impeachment anyway. It was amazing how the business of the country somehow continued while all these games were being played. There was one case of utter irresponsbility that the Republicans pulled off which really made me truly mad. GOP Senators fillibustered changes to a mining law. They have the right to do it as the minority. The problem was that the fillibuster led to the Government was forced to sell 10 Billion dollars worth of gold rights to a Canadian Company for less than 10,000. I would have loved to have been part of that bid. What would Senator Brown's reaction be to such height of irresponsible behavior? When will the business of the peole will actually be done?

As the domestic debate continues on, there is the little matter of the wars America is fighting. America is spending $ 750 Billion Dollars on Defense. What was discussed by Eric Margolis during this clip must give us all a moment of pause:

More at The Real News

The true realities in America has to be realized. Bill Gross of PIMCO reminds us that there is a "new normal" that all must adjust to which will dictate how fiscal policy must be designed around. The Republicans must take stock of what Einstein reminded us all. What he told us was that, "....We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them....". Why are the Republicans continuing on this path? What will force them to wake up and face the true realities?

So, what you're saying is that all the liberal policies that got us into this mess are new? So... the fact that they have failed every time before doesn't count, right? Big government, tax and spend (waste) is the best way to do things? And returning to the Constitution isn't a good idea? Is that what you're saying? Can you hear yourself? Does it matter that the majority of Americans are against the democrat health care ideas? Does it matter to you that even Nasty Pelosi doesn't know what's in this "magical" bill of hers? She did say we should go ahead and approve it and then find out what's in it... Do you really want to dump your hard earned tax money down a bureaucratic rat-hole for a few years before seeing the imaginary "benefits" of this plan?

As for Massachusetts electing Scott Brown, could it just be that the voters liked what he said and wanted him to do what he promised? If that's the case, and he is keeping his campaign promises, who are you to complain? Do you live in Massachusetts? Did you vote against him?

Seems to me that folks living in California and New York should spend their time working on the numerous issues in those two states before expecting the rest of the country to allow them much credibility to deal with national problems. Mrs. Pelosi could go home tomorrow and not be missed.

Since you brought Mr. Clinton into the picture, I wonder what the Bush presidency would have been like without September 11, 2001. Perhaps if Mr. Clinton had been doing his job rather than doing the hired help that tragedy might never have happened. We will never know will we?

Actually Mike, I am disgusted with Washington. Both parties have lied and misrepresented this whole health care effort. It is not about getting health care to the masses. It is about getting the tax dollars that can be generated and using them to finance a liberal social agenda hoping no one will remember where they came from , where they went or why they were collected in the first place when Obamacare really is scheduled to kick in in 2014 or so.

Kudos to the people of Massachusetts and I hope they serve as a positive example to the rest of the country to kick out the morons that currently reside in Congress and the White House.

Irresponsible behavior has its beginnings in Donkey party and their liberal social agenda first.

Thank you for your visit.

Just briefly on California: As you know, I am writing about Califronia all the time and have profound concerns about the direction of the State. I have had some profound concerns further about the Governor..but I have been also investigating some of the things he's been able to actually do.

As for September 11, are you blaming Sept 11 on Bill Clinton? Do you have actual proof that Bill Clinton did not do its' job? As for Washington, everyone seems to agree that it is not working and has no clue about what goes on in Main Street. The country is turning into a jurisotracy and a lobbyocracy.....and that's got to change....

Many thanks for your visits and your visits...look forward to your viisits...

All the Best,

Mike

Seems to me there have been several apparently responsible claims that Bill Clinton had a chance to deal with Bin Laden in or around 1997 or 1998 and he declined to act on the opportunity. If the claims are true, I think a lot of the responsibility for Sept 11 lies with Bill Clinton. And, no, I do not feel Mr. Clinton was an effective president. He was popular and did what the polls indicated the people wanted him to do, but I think he failed to keep the country strong and safe. Of course my support for Mr. Bush went out the window when he announced the decision to invade Iraq. Maybe I just expect too much.

We agree about Washington but would probably disagree about solutions. I am in favor of stong state and local governments with the Federal Government held in check by a fairly conservative interpetation of the Constitution. I feel our biggest issue in Washington is too many career politicians who are in the sights of the influence peddlers for way to long. Anyone who serves 15 or 20 years or more in Congress has lost their connection with main street and the ability to insulate themselves from the lobbyists.

The huge health insurance rate increases Mr. Obama has been ranting about started in California. Half the states have done their job and regulate insurance company rates, 25 out of 50. I bet California is not in the 25 states with such regulation.

I guess it is just my day to pick on California, sorry.

I think it is time folks started taking responsibility for their actions instead of spending so much time on who to blame. Right now, the Dems want to blame everything on Bush, the insurance companies and Wall St. and ignore the fact they were just as responsible for lax regulation and oversight as were the Repubs. I am tired of blame and rhetoric, I want to see fixes and that is going to have to start at the local level, on main street.

The tax I pay earning an income in GA should not be getting spent on building tennis courts in Wyoming, highways yes, tennis courts no.
