OV Newsflash (12/28/2009): Iran Right Now
:
Is this the trigger or not?
Iran arose again during Ashora. Ashora is the day Shias remember the martrydom of Imam Hussein the Prophet Mohammad's Grandson. The sights I saw was heartening and the bravery I saw took my breath away.
Now, Iran's Official Opposition Site, Rahe Sabz, has been reporting on the continued clashes. It has reported out how the opposition leader's nephew, was killed in the clashes. Official Media has been claiming that the cops on the street had no weapons and that the deaths were suspicious. I laughed when I reviewed the Statement on IRNA, the Islamic Republic Agency website, by one of the commanders of the National Police on this subject.
I also find it quite interesting that the same site, Rahe Sabz, is reporting the detention of Ibrahim Yazdi. Dr. Yazdi was the first Foreign Minister of the Revolutionary Government and then was marginalized after the first wave of political ethnic cleansing by the Ayatollah Khomeini. The "psychological" cold war against the key leaders of the opposition--Mousavi, Karoubi & Khamati--also continues on. A write-up on IRNA called these guys the Axis of agitation and mayhem. These are the same guys who were icons of the revolution. The Government does not seem to realize that these kinds of actions will undermine even the slightest of credibility it has left. I wonder if they understand that.
