OV Newsflash (12/23/2009): Iran Right Now...
:
Scary.....
Mr. Ahmadinjead and his gang have begun to make their move. One of Ahmadinejad's jobs as Head of Government is leading the Supreme Revolutionary Cultural Council. The order came down to dismiss Mir Hossein Moussavi as head of the Iran Academy of Arts which was under the auspices of the Council. Mousavi had been subject to harrasement by the Regime's Goons for quite some time anyway. I also have been monitoring reports coming through Al Jazeera about demonstrations going on in the Center of the Country--including Isfahan. There was apparently efforts to silence another leading theologian, Ayatollah Taheri, who had denounced Ahmadinejad. What I continue to wonder is when the regime will make the move against Mousavi. They have not dared to arrest him, yet. To me, that will be a game changer.
I also recently visited Reza Pahlavi's website to see what he has been saying lately. Reza Pahlavi is the son of the last Shah of Iran and issued a statement denoucning Montazeri on the occasion of his death because of his role in the creation of what the world knows as the Islamic Republic of Iran today. What Montazeri did in speaking out against this vile regime must be commended and encouraged. I have said that the Shah was an Iranian Patriot, but was too dependent on foreign powers and in many ways was a despot. The need to galvanize the public in a way that will rattle the regime is ever more important. Leading personalities like Mr. Pahlavi must encourage those like Montazeri, Taheri, Sanaai and others to continue to speak out and to also appeal to those factions within the armed forces to think about Iran before the revolution that has increasingly taken on a vile and self-dellusional turn for the worst. This was exemplified when one of the regime's mouthpieces, Rahe-Mardom (The People's road) dubbed the current Supreme Leader as an IMAM when in fact the leading Senior Theologians in the country do not even accept his authority. This is, of course, as the anniversary of the revolution draws near, the country is in the midst of the month that remembers the martrydom of Imam Hussein and of course the remeberance ceremony of Mr. Montazeri. What will happen now?
