"Outsiders" Middle East Watch (2/7/2012): Quite a Few Days

February 7th 2012 04:16
: Now What?
As I write this first edition of the Middle East Watch, I am listening to the latest report from Syria. The Revolution in Syria is gathering steam and members of the Army and the Police continue to defect. What I found especially sickening was how The Butcher Assad prayed on the Anniversary of the Prophet Mohammad.

I begin the first edition of the "Outsiders" Middle East Watch to get a sense of some of the key developments that has continued to be of concern and may well have worldwide implications.

As I have assessed the situation, what I found especially sickening was the veto of the UN Resolution by China and Russia so that the Butcher Assad is further strengthened as The Syrian Regime continues to kill the people of Civilians every day. I found the justification by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov especially sickening as people continue to die.

As Syria's Regime continues to kill, one of the few allies it has left continues to be fighting a cold war with the West as well. The sanctions against Iran is tightening further by the latest that President Obama has taken. What I find disturbing is the psy-op campaign going on right to potentially prepare the public opinion for a possible strike against Iran. I welcome Leon Panetta's admonition back in December 2011 that an action will have unintended consequences if and when the US decides to back Israel if Israel decides to do the unthinkable.

One of the key developments, though, is the reconcilaition between the Palestinian factions. What is clear is that Palestinians have come to a realization that reconciliation is critical. The Israeli Prime Minister issued out his usual condemnation. What I find quite interesting is how Qatar is involved and how Hamas has come to realize that it has to change fundementally as it pulled out its' last remaining representatives from Damascus to underscore the fact that it is not supporting the Butcher Assad and his Regime.

Never a dull moment...for sure......
