Why????
Ralph Reed is one of the preeminent conservative activits out there. He was actively engaged with Jack Abramoff. Apparently, Reed received 4 million dollars from Abramoff for some initiative dealing with gambling on Indian land. If this report is in fact true, it seems to me that his straight talk express will unfortunately ring hollow. I do have faith in voters, though. Ralph Reed ran for the Lt. Governor of Georgia and was soundly beaten. So, the voters seem to have some sense about things. I will continue to have faith in the voters of this country.
Only the damage to the country and Reed's party is far more substantial. Reed is one of, or, THE biggest phonies in the so-called "religious right" movement. He'd have fit in real well with the worst and sleaziest of the "sutlers" selling guns and booze to the Indians during the late 1860s and 70s. Only nowadays they wine n' dine them, fleece them for their money and have the gall to insult the Tribal Leaders behind their backs while laying out their plans to rob them on the internet of all things.
Dumbos always leave a trail, and the bums associated with Reed, et al, are no different except in the amount they stole and the trust they destroyed.
I'm sure McCain will keep Reed and his ilk at a safe arm's distance -- perhaps a few hundred miles and a lot of cut internet wire chords away's worth of distance.
Reed used to brag about having his victms in body bags before they knew what hit them. Hell, even the Watergate gang wasn't that crude. But Reed's personal tragedy is that his PRIDE, a major mortal flaw and sin, is what's keeping him from seeing that he's FINISHED. Period. I wouldn't worry for McCain and the GOP concerning Reed; unless they're a lot dumber than one could ever imagine. Concerning ANY association with Reed, that'd have to be colossally DUMB.
