Iran & the U.S.
Iran and the United States have been at it for quite some time. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khameini, blasted the United States recently. Yet, I was shocked when the Financial Times reported in today's edition that the United States is considering opening up an Interests Section in Tehran. The United States has not had a formal diplomatic presence since the hostage crisis. The Swiss have represented U.S. Interests. I am very glad that the United States is considering sending diplomats back to Iran. This shows that once again the realists are in the lead. I submit that bombing Iran is out of the question. This is ever more so becuase there was a story in the Huffington Post, the Liberal Political Blog, that if Barrack Obama wins, George W. Bush will bomb Iran. Although I question the basis of it, the mere discussion of it is irresponsible to say the least. To paraphrase Douglas MacArthur, War is the most malignent of human creations. Why people seem to want to bomb their way out of trouble is bothersome.
