I cry for Iran

: She deserves a lot better than this.....
The Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khameini, has given a ringing endorsement to the President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He has praised his government's work and has told them to plan on another five years. Ahmadinjead noted that this endorsement is a medal that the government will wear with a badge of honor that won't be changed with any "worldly" things. All of this has been going on during what is referred to as Hafteh Dowlat (or Government Week). The whole cabinet was there meeting with Khameini.
The Iranian Leaders
Do the Iranian People deserve better?

This basically means that Khameini has basically endorsed the idiot again to run for reelection. There are moves by the various players within the current Iranian political elite to take him on. The problem is that with this ringing endorsement, they might as well stop wasting their time. Khameini has basically thrown out the Constitution and basically destroyed the institutions of state. The notion of Democracy in Iran is a joke. There is no regard for the rule of law. If the Supreme Leader wakes up tomorrow and does not like somthing, it can be changed. Are they checks on his power? The short answer is yes. The Council of Guardians (Majlis Khobregan Rahbari) can technically remove the leader. It is currently headed by Hashemi Rafsanjani, a former President and critique of the idiot.

I can't, for the life of me, understand how Khameini can endorse someone who has presided over an economic collapse and does not believe in Interest Rates as the means of controlling the supply of money to in turn contain the rate of inflation. The official rate of inflation is 26%. I can't understand how Khameini endorses a man who has an Interior Minister that has a fake degree for which the guy could not even get the spelling right on the fake diploma. A simple spell check would have at least picked up the oversight. Does Khameini have his head in the sand? Does he not realize the suffering of the Iranian people? I wonder what the thinking of the political leadership in Tehran is. I know it is not to help the ordinary guy--despite all their claims and propaganda. Now that Khameini has come out in favor of the government, a cleric who commands the Basij (the popular militia) has come out noting that they are "proud" of the records of the government. They should be. The only beneficiaries are government cronies. Everyone else is being left behind!!!
