As we continue to embrace the Future...

: Some Neat Ideas Worth Talking about...

America is never easy. America, although young, is full of symbols. One of those enduring symbols is Air Force One. I am fascinated by Air Force One and the symbol it represents. It represents American Power, influence and optimism. One of the things that continues to fascinate it even more is what the President has been talking about in terms of how Energy is used. Some of the things talked about during the campaign are ideas that should make it into law and policy.

The ideas floating around are fascinating. For instance, rebuilding the grid is one by figuring out how to execute a smart vision. Some may think that the use of the word smart is a catch-all phrase. But, it can be a start. One idea I am particularly keen on is this notion of microgeneration. EON, the German Energy Group, has been quite active with the wind farm in the UK. There are definite possiblities that can be harnessed and harnessed now.

I view the necessity of getting of the Carbon Binge as vital. We have no other chance. The time is now to guarantee a better tomorrow for all.

: ..and now the real work begins......
History.....
A New Dawn Has Arrived

Barack Hussein Obama is now the 44th President of the United States. Throughout my lifetime, I have had the privilege to read on the traditions and was finally able to be a true witness to this momentous transfer of power due to the power of technology. I have continued to marvel at how someone with so much power gives it up so willingly because the people are truly sovereign in America. This was quite moving when the President and the First Lady escorted Former Mr. and Mrs. Bush:

: It is tough not to panic......
An Aide to Senator McCain claimed that Blackberry was a miracle that Senator McCain helped create. When I first read about this, I laughed. I guess the co-founders of Research In Motion had nothing to do with it. Senator McCain was ridiculed by Senator Obama for not being able to even write an e-mail. I found that a bit over the top. Therefore, it seems to me that his technological vision is not as "advanced" as one might lead to believe.

When I read about this statement, I was reminded of how Al Gore was ridiculed when he was "accused" of inventing the interent. The truth was that accoding to Vint Cerf, the father of the Interent, Al Gore played a leading role in creating the ground work for the eventual mass adoption of the interent while in Congress. I suppose Al Gore is used to that kind of ridicule. He is now the subject of ridicule by many for talking about what others simply ignored up to now. This is a testamony he made before the Congress in 2007:

We are right now witnessing the calamity. Galveston is in ruins, Houston has no power and there are challenges all over the midwest of the U.S. This is all thanks to IKE. My fear is that the drive to work to overcome our addiction to carbon and to resurrect our dying planet will be subservient to the economic implosion before us. As someone who is using this forum to think about our challenges and potential solutions, I don't mind noting how overwhelming it is all becoming. As I am writing this daily retrospective, Al Jazeera is reoprting that markets are continuing the freefall in Asia after the bloodbath in Wall Street on Wednesday. If history is any judge, we will overcome. The question is will we?
