His Majesty Did it!!!!
Well, His Majesty Mugabe has won!!! According to the Government, he has won by a wide margin with 42% voter turn-out. He is due to be sworn in. The leader of the opposition was invited for "engagement". He got away with it...and the world will stay silent. Al Jazeera is broadcasting it live.
As I thought about Mugabe and Zimbabwe, I wanted to acknowledge and somewhat agree with the double standard used by the major International powers (or as one Africa Expert called the North Atlantic Powers), being used. There is Egypt, the major Northern Power in Africa. It has been in a virtual state of emergency since 1981 when Anwar Sadat was assassinated. Libya has been a virtual dictatorship Since Qadaffi came to power and overthrew the monarchy. Algeria has been in a state of virtual martial law since the muslim uprising in the late 80's. Then, there is Sudan, Chad, Benin, Central African Republic. Africa's has been simply blessed with greedy leaders hungry for power who seemed to have forgotten what it is like to serve. Greedy businessmen, in order to be able to take advantage of Africa's natural resources. This is exactly China's stance in its' "interest" and support of Zimbabwe. I also read that Iran had made a lot of promises too. I don't why Iran is making promises when it has to contend with high unemployment and high inflation.
I wonder, as Mugabe takes the oath of office, he wonders about the price his people have had to pay for his insistence on being referred to as "Mr. President". .
