Finally, someone shows some spine on Zimbabwe...
:
About time!!!
I found the reports I saw on Zimbabwe intriguing. For starters, the South Africans are starting to show some spine by withholding about 22 million dollars in agricultural aid to Zimbabwe. I realize this will hold ordinary folks. But, Zimbabwe has no effective government. All we have got going is a one man show. The Butcher Mugabe is hanging on.
Another interesting story I read was on the front page of the Los Angeles Times. The columnist reported on a discussion he had with a member of the Butcher Mugabe's Central Intelligence Organization. These guys are part of the gang of thugs and cutthroats who have sustained the butcher Mugabe's hold on power. Even they, it appears, are not happy. When will this perfect storm finally hit the butcher and sweep him and his henchmen from power is the day I will celebrate with joy. The group of eminent persons, the Elders, will also be going on to Zimbabwe to check on things within the next week or so. Being the cowards that they are, the ZImbabweans are apparently throwing roadblocks. I saw reports that the Zimbabwean Government is denying it. Who will believe them?
What bothered me even more was the action taken by Mugabe's thugs. They have detained a number of MDC supporters, including a mother and her two year old child. When asked about it, the so-called deputy information minister (the butcher's mouthpiece), attacked the United States. He had no credible answer except to question why the United States is involved. What blows me away is how these thugs have hung on. This thug needs to understand that the United States does speak up for the dispossesed and the down and out. This will be even more so after Barack Obama takes office because of the moral authority at hand. I commend the U.S. Ambassador for speaking out as he has. I am sure that the butcher will love nothing better than to kick the Ambassador out. One must never apologize for speaking up human rights and civil rights. I urge the U.S. Ambassador to continue his valiant and courageous quest on behalf of the world.
