Democrats are starting to get their act together....
:
Can it possible?
CNN is right now reporting that Senator Hillary Clinton will release her delegates. I view that to be a highly symbolic move. It pulls the rug from under the McCain attack ad that just ran to try and divide and conquer. Although the ad is still available on Senator McCain's website, I was not able to find it on Senator McCain's YouTube Page. I think the Clintons are a lot more savvy to allow the Republicans to divide and conquer. Being nice did not work in 2004, as Nina Easton of Fortune noted in her comments earlier on Sunday on FoxNews. Being nice allowed George W. Bush to win re-elecction. The Clintons will step up and do what needs to be done to insure that the Republicans are not going to win. Just as all leaders worry about their legacy, the Clintons are proud practitioners of that very craft. Just look at what Bill Clinton has done since he left the White House!!! It is political reality.
I view Joe Biden's selection as a master stroke. I read an article on Businessweek.com noting how Barack Obama acted like a CEO when choosing Joe Biden. Despite all that has been said of him by the pundits and the bloggers, he has a knack for domestic policy. Senator Obama is also no pushover. As Jon Mecham of Newsweek (and soon to be MSNBC) noted in Sunday's Meet the Press, you just don't become the nominee of the Democratic Party for President at the age of 47 by being a pushover. Fred Barnes on FoxNews noted Joe Biden's weakness because his presidential campaign fizzled out right after Iowa. Frankly, I think Joe Biden was campaiging for the VP slot all along. I think Barack Obama is lucky to have him. The man is no pushoever and no yes man. If any leader surrounded himself with yes men, that leader is not worth a dime. I had noted that the VP selection will tell quite a bit about the kind of leader Barack Obama will expect to be. As for Joe Biden himself, he is as much a fighter as John McCain. He overcame personal adversity to be one of the most eloquent and effective Senators of our times. One may disagree again with his politics, but all acknowledge his foreign policy expertise and his profound understanding of constitutional law.
Joe Biden's speech in Springfield on Saturday shows how forceful an advocate he is going to be for the Democratic Ticket:
The Democratic convention is starting in a few hours. The race is tied. The country is split down the middle. The attack ads will be relentless. The bloggers will have a field day with Senator Obama's Middle Name. They will also have a field day with Senator Biden and his comments. But, the team is a strong team. I am confident that Senator McCain's pick will also be a strong one and not be another Dan Quayle. It is about time for some excitement!!!
The battle lines are drawn. The question is who will be left standing on November 5?
