Charlie Rangal is a long-time Congressman from the Harlem area of New York City. His liberal stance of all issues is well known. From what I have read, he is well liked. He is currently seving as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee with responsbility for Tax legislation. He got into hot water for using a rent-stabilized apartment as a campaign office. Frankly, it is very disappointing to me for someone with his stature to put himself in such a position. Yesterday, I saw him holding a news conference in his usual feisty mode. He made a mistake and is now trying to seek an ethics probe. I can't figure out why politicans allow themselves to be backed into a corner in a way and to have their conduct questioned in such a way. He should have known better.
