Outsider Views - June 2008

Blackwater

I wanted to introduce the readers of this retrospective to a new name: Blackwater. It is a company founded by Eric Prince, an ex-US Serviceman who has built an empire to dominate the privatization of security for the U.S. Government and has begun to diversify away from Iraq. This name should be known, if not already. There have been hearings at the Congress and investigations by independent journalists. It is another saga in the history of the privatization of war and the role of government.
