Al Gore's Speech & The Reaction
Al Gore challenged America to be Carbon-Free. For those who don't realize how much this carbon dependence has cost the United States and the world, they are simply ignorant or not aware of the facts. One Senator who had an "interesting" reaction was U.S. Senator George Voinoivich of Ohio. The Senator is a former Governor and apparently was a popular one. He characterized the objectives as a smokescreen. As I listened to some of his comments that he posted to his website, he noted that the President of Shell said that "...they are doing their best...". He, as well as the rest of the Republicans in the Senate, don't seem to realize that this continued dependence is the essential problem. I, for one, do not believe the oil industry. I would rather declare independence of oil. The so-called "avaiability" is just a crapshoot. I will continue to follow T. Boone Pickens (available at http://www.pickensplan.com) when he is telling all of us that "we can't drill our way out of this." The Republicans have to wake up. They seem not to have woken up yet.
